Object Pronouns

Object pronouns are words that replace the object of a sentence. In other words, they receive the action of the verb.

Here are the object pronouns in English:

Subject PronounObject Pronoun
Ime
youyou
hehim
sheher
itit
weus
theythem

Quick Tip to Remember:

The subject does the action, and the object receives the action.

  • She invited them.
    – “She” is the subject (the one doing the inviting), and “them” is the object (the one being invited).

More examples

  1. I called him last night.
→ “Him” is the object of the verb “called.”
  2. Can you help me?
→ “Me” receives the action (help).
  3. We saw them at the market.
→ “Them” is the object receiving the action “saw.”
  4. Don’t touch it!
→ “It” is the thing that shouldn’t be touched.
  5. They invited us to dinner.
→ “Us” is the lucky group getting the dinner invite!

Common Mistake:

Sometimes people confuse subject and object pronouns, especially when more than one person is involved.

✅ Correct: Sarah and I went to the store.

🚫 Incorrect: He gave the gift to Sarah and I.
✅ Correct: He gave the gift to Sarah and me.
